Witness Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke as they grapple with this dilemma in the first official teaser for the upcoming Netflix mystery thriller, "Leave The World Behind," which also stars Mahershala Ali, Myha'la Herrold, and Kevin Bacon.

Adapted from Rumaan Alam's acclaimed 2020 novel of the same name, the film unfolds around a family on vacation, portrayed by Roberts and Hawke. Their peaceful retreat takes a chilling turn when two enigmatic strangers (played by Mahershala Ali and Myha'la) unexpectedly appear at their doorstep. These visitors bring unsettling news of an impending nationwide blackout caused by an unforeseen cyberattack that threatens to plunge society into chaos. Now, the family must wrestle with the decision of how to navigate a world turned upside down, all while grappling with the uncertainty of who to trust.

"Leave the World Behind" is written and directed by Sam Esmail, the award-winning creator behind the conspiracy hacker thriller series "Mr. Robot." Esmail is also known for creating Amazon's psychological thriller anthology series "Homecoming," where he directed the entire first season, featuring Julia Roberts as the lead.

"Leave the World Behind" will have a limited theatrical release in November before streaming exclusively on Netflix starting December 8th.
