We've seen Joaquin Phoenix pushing the boundaries of his acting abilities with his Oscar-winning portrayal of the Joker in that hit comic book film. But now, imagine him taking on the intriguing challenge of bringing a historical figure like Napoleon Bonaparte to life on the big screen. Just how would he approach such a role?

In a new official behind-the-scenes sneak peek for Ridley Scott's latest epic, "Napoleon," it's evident that Phoenix is just as committed and passionate as ever, immersing himself in the role of the infamous French military leader turned emperor.

The legendary director, who previously collaborated with Phoenix on the Oscar-winning "Gladiator," remarks in the above clip, "When you're doing a film with Joaquin, he comes alive! He is evolving into Napoleon Bonaparte."

Alongside Joaquin Phoenix, we have Vanessa Kirby, known for her role in last two "Mission: Impossible" films, stepping into the shoes of Josephine Bonaparte, Napoleon's true love and Empress during his ascent to power.
