After a somewhat less-than-stellar summer, it's no secret that DC and Warner Bros are in dire need of a blockbuster hit in their lineup of comic book films. But fear not, Jason Momoa is here to turn the tide. And he's brought along his trusty golden trident. All hail to the king!

Behold the official trailer for "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom," the highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 DC superhero blockbuster. Jason Momoa returns to the screen as the titular superhero in this upcoming film, once again helmed by director James Wan.

In this new installment, Arthur Curry (Momoa), now the King of Atlantis, grapples with the challenges of his newfound royal responsibilities while embracing the role of a father. However, no Aquaman adventure is complete without a formidable antagonist. Enter the mercenary pirate Black Manta, portrayed once again by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who returns with a sinister agenda that threatens to disrupt everything.

In the face of such peril, Arthur must seek help from an unlikely source -- his incarcerated half-brother and former rival, Orm (played by Patrick Wilson). These estranged brothers must set aside their old rivalries and forge an improbable alliance to protect their kingdom and safeguard Aquaman's family.

The upcoming film also sees the return of Amber Heard as Queen Mera, Nicole Kidman as Arthur's mother, Atlanna, Temuera Morrison as Arthur's father, Tom Curry, and Dolph Lundgren as Mera's father, King Nereus.

Prepare to dive back into the depths of Atlantis when "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" hits theaters on December 20th, just in time for the holidays.

Director James Wan and Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa -- along with Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Nicole Kidman -- return in the sequel to the highest-grossing DC film of all time: "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom." Having failed to defeat Aquaman (Momoa) the first time, Black Manta (Abdul-Mateen), still driven by the need to avenge his father's death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm (Wilson), the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance.
