Jenna Ortega is not at all like her Wednesday character in this new official sneak peek clip from "Finestkind," the upcoming crime thriller from Oscar-winning screenwriter Brian Helgeland, of "L.A. Confidential" and "Mystic River."

In the clip, she's seen getting into it with Ben Foster after being accused of "setting him up." She holds her own as a small brawl erupts in a bar.

In this Paramount Plus original film, which recently premiered at TIFF, Ben Foster and Toby Wallace (from the upcoming "The Bikeriders") take on the roles of two estranged brothers from a small fishing town. Driven by desperate circumstances, the brothers are compelled to strike a deal with a violent Boston crime syndicate. However, when the arrangement goes awry, they begin to mistrust everyone in their circle, including a young woman portrayed by Jenna Ortega, who finds herself caught in the crossfire.

Tommy Lee Jones is also in the cast of the film, which is both written and directed by Brian Helgeland. While Helgeland is celebrated for his accomplishments as an award-winning screenwriter, "Finestkind" marks his return to directing since his work on the British gangster biopic "Legend" featuring Tom Hardy. Helgeland is also recognized for writing and directing Chadwick Boseman's baseball biopic "42."

"Finestkind" is scheduled for release this fall, exclusively on the Paramount Plus streaming platform.

synopsis:
FINESTKIND tells the story of two brothers (Ben Foster and Toby Wallace), raised in different worlds, who are reunited as adults over a fateful summer. Set against the backdrop of commercial fishing, the story takes on primal stakes when desperate circumstances force the brothers to strike a deal with a violent Boston crime gang. Along the way a young woman (Jenna Ortega) finds herself caught perilously in the middle. Sacrifices must be made and bonds between brothers, friends, lovers, and a father (Tommy Lee Jones) and his son are put to the ultimate test.
