Known for his successful adaptations of Stephen King's chilling tales, such as "Doctor Sleep" and "Gerald's Game," acclaimed horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan has now turned his attention to the master of gothic literature, Edgar Allan Poe. Flanagan has taken Poe's classic "The Fall of the House of Usher" and reimagined it with a contemporary twist, creating a new eight-episode miniseries for Netflix. The streaming giant has recently released the first official trailer for this upcoming series.

Featuring an impressive ensemble cast that includes Carla Gugino, Bruce Greenwood, Mary McDonnell, Henry Thomas, and Mark Hamill, this gothic horror thriller revolves around the ruthless twin siblings, Roderick and Madeline Usher (portrayed by Bruce Greenwood and Mary McDonnell, respectively). They have transformed a pharmaceutical company into a formidable family empire of wealth, privilege, and influence. However, long-buried secrets resurface when the heirs to the Usher dynasty begin meeting untimely demises at the hands of a mysterious woman (Carla Gugino) from the past.

Joining the cast are Carl Lumbly, Samantha Sloyan, T'Nia Miller, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Sauriyan Sapkota, Zach Gilford, Willa Fitzgerald, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, Paola Nunez, Annabeth Gish, Nicholas Lea, Kyleigh Curran, and Michael Trucco.

This marks the latest addition to Mike Flanagan's collection of horror miniseries for Netflix, as he continues to deliver gothic horror hits to the streaming platform. His prior Netflix miniseries, including "Midnight Mass," "The Haunting of Bly Manor," and "The Haunting of Hill House," have all garnered critical acclaim and resonated with audiences. Flanagan, however, has recently inked a deal with Amazon, where he is reported to be working on a passion project -- adapting Stephen King's beloved book series, "The Dark Tower," into a television series.

"The Fall of the House of Usher" is set to make its debut exclusively on Netflix on October 12th. Watch the trailer, above.
