New Zealand comedian Rhys Darby (from "Flight of the Conchords" and "What We Do in the Shadows") takes on the role of an endearing time-traveler who finds himself unexpectedly trapped in the past in the new Canadian science-fiction comedy, "Relax, I'm from the Future."

The film is both written and directed by Luke Higginson, a first-time feature filmmaker, drawing inspiration from his 2013 short film of the same name.

In the comedy, Rhys Darby, who is set to appear in Taika Waititi's upcoming soccer comedy "Next Goal Wins," plays Casper, an earnest stranger who claims to have journeyed from the future. Now marooned in his past, which is our present, Casper seeks the assistance of a nonconformist skeptic, portrayed by Canadian actress Gabrielle Graham, to execute his "plan" of saving the world.

The film also features Julian Richings and Janine Theriault in supporting roles. "Relax, I'm from the Future" is scheduled for a U.S. theatrical release on September 22nd. Watch the official trailer, above.

synopsis:
Casper, a charming but underprepared Time Traveller, is trapped in the past. He befriends Holly, a jaded drifter, who helps him exploit his trivial knowledge of the future for a series of quick payouts. When a more competent Time Traveller tracks them down, Casper and Holly are forced to figure out what they mean to each other and whether the future they've threatened is even worth saving.
