Apple is taking viewers deep into the world of Legendary's "MonsterVerse" with the upcoming series "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters." Set within the universe of blockbuster films like "Godzilla vs. Kong" and "Kong: Skull Island," this series will delve into the origins of the secretive Monarch program, which was created to handle the threat of kaiju monsters.

Check out the first official teaser trailer for "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters," featuring genre legend Kurt Russell as Lee Shaw, an Army officer who was one of the early members of the Monarch program. Meanwhile, Russell's real-life son, Wyatt Russell, plays a younger version of Lee Shaw in flashback scenes.

The new Apple series spans multiple decades and generations, serving as a bridge between "Kong: Skull Island" and "Godzilla vs. Kong." It also lays the groundwork for the next film in the franchise, "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire," set to hit theaters next year.

In addition to Kurt and Wyatt Russell, the cast also includes Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, Elisa Lasowski, and a guest appearance by John Goodman, reprising his role as senior Monarch researcher Bill Randa from "Kong: Skull Island."

The upcoming series is executive produced by television producer-writer Chris Black (Severance, Outcast) and acclaimed comic book writer Matt Fraction (Hawkeye, The Immortal Iron Fist).

Emmy-nominated director Matt Shakman, known for directing episodes of "WandaVision," "Game of Thrones," and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," and currently slated to direct the upcoming "Fantastic Four" movie for Marvel, helmed the first two episodes of the series.

"Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" is set to premiere on November 17th exclusively on Apple TV Plus.

Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS tracks two siblings following in their father's footsteps to uncover their family's connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army Officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga -- spanning three generations -- reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.
