Jamie Foxx is once again igniting the screen with his charismatic presence. He takes the lead in the upcoming Amazon original film "The Burial," delivering what appears to be an impassioned performance as a fast-talking, high-energy lawyer determined to combat corporate corruption. Check out the newly-released official trailer, above.

In this courtroom drama inspired by true events, Foxx portrays Willie E. Gary, an unconventional Black attorney from the American South who becomes a crucial part of a legal team tasked with handling a litigation case. The case revolves around a heated legal battle pitting a funeral home owner (played by Academy Award winner Tommy Lee Jones) against a formidable corporation with deep pockets.

Willie E. Gary's inclusion on the legal team is a Hail Mary move, as Tommy Lee Jones's character finds himself on the brink of losing his family business after a protracted legal dispute. However, Willie is not one to back down, even when the odds are stacked against him.

"The Burial" harks back to the classic courtroom dramas of the 1980s and 1990s and boasts a stellar cast that includes Alan Ruck, Mamoudou Athie, Pamela Reed, with Bill Camp as the ruthless corporation executive, and Jurnee Smollett as the corporation's new, Harvard-educated hotshot attorney.

Directed by Maggie Betts, known for her work on the Sundance-winning nun drama "Novitiate," the film features a screenplay co-written by Betts and acclaimed writer-playwright Doug Wright ("Quills").

"The Burial" is set to hit theaters on October 6th and will subsequently premiere on Prime Video on October 13th. Watch the official trailer, above.
