Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman intensely prepares to take on what might be the role of a lifetime: portraying a prominent tabloid figure.

Check out the first official teaser for the new Netflix original film from acclaimed filmmaker Todd Haynes, of "Carol" and "Far from Heaven."

In addition to Portman, the cast also features Oscar-winner Julianne Moore and "Riverdale" actor Charles Melton.

The movie is inspired by the shocking real-life tabloid scandal surrounding Mary Kay Letourneau, a grade school teacher who engaged in a sexual relationship with one of her students. She was arrested and went to prison but later married that student once he reached a legal age.

In the film, which is a potentially controversial exploration into the tabloid world, blurring lines between real life and entertainment, Julianne Moore takes on the role of Gracie, a fictionalized version of Mary Kay Letourneau. Charles Melton steps into the shoes of Gracie's partner, "Joe," whose life becomes the subject of intense tabloid scrutiny. Meanwhile, Natalie Portman portrays Elizabeth Berry, a fictional Hollywood actress who finds herself entangled in the couple's life while researching for a film about the scandal.

"May December" is set to hit select theaters throughout November before making its Netflix premiere on December 1st. Watch the teaser, above.
