Netflix had released a sneak peek clip from "Nyad," the upcoming motivational sports drama based on the remarkable real-life journey of the long-distance swimmer and sports journalist, Diana Nyad. At the age of 60, Nyad embarked on an extraordinary challenge: a 110-mile marathon swim from Cuba to Florida through waters teeming with sharks.

In the forthcoming Netflix original film, set to make its world premiere this weekend at the Telluride Film Festival, four-time Academy Award nominee Annette Bening takes on the role of Diana Nyad. Accompanying her is two-time Academy Award winner Jodie Foster, who plays Bonnie Stoll, Nyad's close friend and swimming coach.

In the above clip, we see the moment when Nyad (Bening) approaches Bonnie (Foster), requesting her to take on the role of coach for her monumental swimming journey. Naturally, they are playing a friendly game of ping pong.

"Nyad" marks the narrative directorial debut of Academy Award-winning documentary filmmakers Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, of "Free Solo" fame. Their track record also includes the well-received documentaries "The Rescue" and "Meru."

"Nyad" is scheduled to hit select theaters in October prior to its Netflix release on November 3rd.

synopsis:
