Zack Snyder, the visionary filmmaker responsible for movies like "300," "Watchmen," "Batman v Superman," "Man of Steel," and the "Justice League: Snyder's Cut," has returned this year with a new epic cinematic spectacle. He has crafted a grand space opera that captures the essence and ambition of a "Star Wars" film while infusing it with his distinctive Snyder directing style and visual touch.
Check out the first official trailer for Snyder's "Rebel Moon," a new science-fiction action epic that stars Algerian actress Sofia Boutella, from "Atomic Blonde" and "Star Trek Beyond." Boutella portrays Kora, a mysterious figure residing in a peaceful village on the outskirts of the galaxy. However, the village's serene existence is disrupted when the army of a tyrannical ruler invades, seeking to end an uprising prophecy. Kora takes center stage as a symbol of resistance, assembling a diverse group of warriors and rebels from different backgrounds, united by their shared desire for redemption and vengeance.
The ensemble cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Jena Malone, and Doona Bae. Academy Award-winning actor Anthony Hopkins also makes a guest appearance in the film as a voice of a battle robot.
This marks Snyder's second collaboration with Netflix, following his zombie-action film "Army of the Dead." The screenplay for "Rebel Moon" was co-written by Snyder, alongside screenwriters Shay Hatten (known for "Army of the Dead" and "John Wick: Chapter 4") and Kurt Johnstad ("Atomic Blonde"). As anticipation builds, plans are already underway for sequels. Netflix and Snyder have designed to develop the film into a possible Netflix franchise.
Scheduled to premiere exclusively on Netflix on December 22nd, "Rebel Moon (Part 1 - A Child of Fire)" is expected to be a major addition to the streaming platform's original content lineup.
