The enigmatic Aes Sedai Moiraine Damodred has made a choice. And now she must accept the consequences that come with unleashing the Dark One, despite her initial intentions.

Check out the official trailer for the highly anticipated second season of Amazon's hit fantasy series "The Wheel of Time," based on Robert Jordan's best-selling book series.

Rosamund Pike, known for her Oscar-nominated role in "Gone Girl," returns to portray Moiraine Damodred, a prominent member of the female-only mystic order called the Aes Sedai.

In this new second season, which draws from the second novel in the series, "The Great Hunt," and incorporating elements from the third novel "The Dragon Reborn", Moiraine assumes the role of mentor to a group of five young villagers destined to save their kingdom from the clutches of dark magic and evil creatures. Joined by Lan Mandragoran (played by Daniel Henney), a formidable ally, Moiraine guides her proteges in their fight against impending darkness.

In addition to Pike and Henney, the cast includes Josha Stradowski (Gran Turismo) as Rand al'Thor, Zoe Robins (Power Rangers Ninja Steel) as Nynaeve al'Meara, Madeleine Madden (Dora and the Lost City of Gold) as Egwene al'Vere, Marcus Rutherford (Obey) as Perrin Aybara, Donal Finn (Rogue Heroes) as Mat Cauthon, and Ceara Coveney (Young Wallander) as Elayne Trakand.

Rafe Judkins, a former "Survivor" contestant turned television writer-producer, serves as the executive producer and showrunner for the series. Judkins has previous experience as a writer and producer on the Marvel/ABC show "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

Mark your calendars for September 1st when Season 2 of "The Wheel of Time" premieres exclusively on Prime Video. Be sure to catch the trailer above and prepare to be spellbound by this epic fantasy saga.
