Visionary filmmaker Zack Snyder (300, Justice League) is back! And it seems he's employing every tool in his arsenal to bring life to one of his passion film projects, a concept he has been contemplating for almost twenty years.

Take a look at the first official behind-the-scenes featurette for Snyder's highly anticipated sci-fi epic, "Rebel Moon." This sneak peek offers a glimpse into his thrilling new science-fantasy adventure set to release on Netflix later this year.

"Rebel Moon" serves as Snyder's second directorial effort for Netflix, following his zombie actioner "Army of the Dead." This ambitious space opera has been crafted as the foundation of a possible franchise for the streaming platform.

Set in the far reaches of the cosmos, a peaceful colony teeters on the edge of annihilation. Their harmonious existence is shattered when the forces of an oppressive ruler descend upon them. However, do not despair, for hope materializes in the form of Kora (portrayed by Sofia Boutella, known for "Atomic Blonde" and "Star Trek Beyond"). Kora, a mysterious enigma dwelling within the village, emerges as their final glimmer of hope and beacon of survival.

Alongside Boutella, the ensemble cast features a talented lineup including Charlie Hunnam, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Jena Malone, and Doona Bae, with a guest appearance by Anthony Hopkins.

synopsis:
When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors -- outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.
