Netflix has released the first official teaser for Season 3 of the hit Netflix medieval fantasy series "The Witcher," starring Henry Cavill as monster slayer Geralt of Rivia.

Cavill has announced that this will be his final season as he is leaving the show due to creative differences and an overly-demanding production schedule. Producers have already announced his replacement for Season 4: Australian actor Liam Hemsworth (Hunger Games franchise) will be taking over the role of Geralt of Rivia for Season 4.

Nevertheless, this is Cavill's final outing as the titular "Witcher," and the new footage shows Geralt slowly unsheathing his sword. "Now, for the first time, I understand real fear," he proclaims while facing a mysterious silhouette in the background.

"The Witcher" is based on the best-selling fantasy books by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, which are also the inspiration for the popular video game franchise. The Netflix show launched back in December 2019 and became a massive success for the streaming company. Cavill is a self-proclaimed superfan of The Witcher game. But Cavill has also suffered a number of injuries during the production of the show.

Also returning to the series are Freya Allan as Princess Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Joey Batey as traveling bard Jaskier. Joining the cast of Season 4 are Robbie Amell, Meng'er Zhang, Hugh Skinner, and Christelle Elwin.

"The Witcher: Season 3" will be split up into two volumes. Volume 1 premieres on June 29th and Volume 2 premieres on July 27th, only on Netflix. Watch the teaser, above.
