Sony Pictures has released a brand-new official trailer for "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," the highly anticipated sequel to the Oscar-winning animated blockbuster that features the adventures of Brooklyn teen superhero Miles Morales.

The upcoming film, which is executive produced by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, again features the voices of Shameik Moore (Dope) as Miles and Hailee Steinfeld (Hawkeye) as Gwen Stacy aka Spider-Gwen. Jake Johnson is also back as the voice of Peter B. Parker aka Spider-Man. Plus, Oscar Isaac has joined the franchise as the voice of Miguel O'Hara aka Spider-Man 2099.

The animated sequel sees Miles reuniting with Gwen Stacy for another superhero mission. This time, Miles is crossing over into the multiverse, joining a superhero alliance with a very large collection of Spider-people. Some are good and some are not-so-good... and some are just angry. But once Miles realizes he must decide between saving a loved one and saving the multiverse, he tries to come up with another strategy to alter his destiny.

"Across the Spider-Verse" is directed by animator Joaquim Dos Santos (Avatar: The Last Airbender), alongside Oscar-nominated screenwriter/playwright Kemp Powers (Soul, One Night in Miami), and Justin K. Thompson. The film also features the voices of Brian Tyree Henry and Luna Lauren Velez as Miles' parents Jefferson Davis and Rio Morales; Issa Rae as Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman; Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk; Jorma Taccone as Vulture; Rachel Dratch as Miles' school counselor, and Jason Schwartzman as the supervillain, The Spot.

"Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" is set to open in theaters on June 2nd. (There's also a third animated film in the series, "Beyond the Spider-Verse," which is set to be released in early 2024.)
