Four unlikely friends set out on an adventurous voyage of self-discovery in the new outrageous road-trip comedy from Adele Lim, the co-writer of the hit "Crazy Rich Asians."

Starring comedian Sherry Cola, Emily in Paris's Ashley Park, recent Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu, and comedian Sabrina Wu, "Joy Ride" is a new Asian female-led comedy about Lolo (Cola) and Audrey (Park), two childhood friends who decide to visit Asia to find out more about their family heritage, only for everything to go wrong after reuniting with Kat (Hsu), a former college friend turned Chinese soap star, and an oddball cousin named Deadeye (Wu).

Produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, working under their production label Point Grey Pictures, the film is written by "Family Guy" writer Cherry Chevapravatdumrong and "Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens" co-creator Teresa Hsiao.

Adele Lim, who previously co-wrote the screenplays for "Crazy Rich Asians" and "Raya and the Last Dragon," makes her directorial debut with the film, which also co-stars Ronny Chieng, Lori Tan Chinn, David Denman, Annie Mumolo, Desmond Chiam, Alexander Hodge, and Chris Pang.

"Joy Ride" is slated to open in theaters this summer, beginning on July 7th. In the meantime, you can check out the newly-released official red band trailer, above.

synopsis:
From the producers of Neighbors and the co-screenwriter of Crazy Rich Asians, JOY RIDE stars Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu, and Sabrina Wu. The hilarious and unapologetically explicit story of identity and self-discovery centers on four unlikely friends who embark on a once-in-a-lifetime international adventure. When Audrey's (Ashley Park) business trip to Asia goes sideways, she enlists the aid of Lolo (Sherry Cola), her irreverent, childhood best friend who also happens to be a hot mess; Kat (Stephanie Hsu), her college friend turned Chinese soap star; and Deadeye (Sabrina Wu), Lolo's eccentric cousin. Their no-holds-barred, epic experience becomes a journey of bonding, friendship, belonging, and wild debauchery that reveals the universal truth of what it means to know and love who you are.
