As if this summer weren't already stacked with big-screen spectacles. Disney comes in swinging with another live-action adaptation of a classic animated musical. This one features singing mermaids, talking crabs, and a wicked Melissa McCarthy with Javier Bardem as a majestic sea emperor.

Check out the official full trailer for the highly anticipated Disney live-action remake "The Little Mermaid," starring singer-actress Halle Bailey (who is one half of the musical duo Chloe x Halle) as the iconic mermaid princess Ariel.

Inspired by the award-winning 1989 animated musical, the upcoming film also stars Oscar-nominated actress Melissa McCarthy as the villainous sea witch, Ursula; Oscar-winner Javier Bardem as Ariel's overprotective father, King Triton, and English actor Jonah Hauer-King as Eric, the human prince whom Ariel ends up falling in love with after saving his life.

Directed by Rob Marshall (of "Mary Poppins Returns," "Into the Woods," and "Chicago") and adapted by David Magee (Mary Poppins Returns, A Man Called Otto), "The Little Mermaid" also features the voices of Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, the crab; Awkwafina as Scuttle, the diving bird; and Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, the tropical fish.

The film is slated to be released in theaters on May 26th.

synopsis:
THE LITTLE MERMAID is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton's daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life -- and her father's crown -- in jeopardy.
