Stand-up comic and popular podcaster Bert Kreischer has turned one of his great drunken real-life stories into the basis of the upcoming action comedy "The Machine," for which an official trailer has been released.

Inspired by Bert Kreischer's stand-up act, the film sees Bert as a semi-fictionalized version of himself and casts "Star Wars" icon Mark Hamill as his father.

When Bert's drinking past resurfaces, he learns that his father (Hamill) has been abducted by Russian mobsters to pay a long-standing score. Twenty years ago, Bert was a dumb, beer-drinking college student studying abroad in Russia for a semester. And he pissed off the wrong guys over there, and it seems they haven't forgotten about it.

Jimmy Tatro (from "American Vandal") plays Bert as a young man. Other cast members include Stephanie Kurtzuba, Iva Babic, Jess Gabor, and Tea Wagner.

The action comedy is directed by Peter Atencio, who is the Emmy-winning comedy director and producer of "Key and Peele." Atencio also previously helmed the Key-and-Peele action-comedy "Keanu."

"The Machine" is hitting theaters on May 26th. Bert Kreischer is also expected to tour with the film in certain cities.

synopsis:
Set 23 years after the original story which inspired it, THE MACHINE finds Bert Kreischer facing familial crisis and the arrival of his estranged father (Mark Hamill) when the ghost of his booze-soaked past arrives: a murderous mobster (Iva Babic) hellbent on kidnapping Bert back to the motherland to atone for his crimes. Together, he and his father must retrace the steps of his younger self (Jimmy Tatro) in the midst of a war between a sociopathic crime family while they attempt to find common ground.
