Samaritan — Official Featurette

Amazon has released a featurette for "Samaritan," the new gritty superhero-tinged action thriller that stars Sylvester Stallone as a reclusive sanitation worker who just might also be a legendary superhero vigilante.

The film, which is based on the indie graphic novel by Bragi F. Schut, Marc Olivent, and Renzo Podesta, follows a 13-year-old boy named Sam (played by Javon 'Wanna' Walton; from "Euphoria" and "The Umbrella Academy: Season 3") as he tries to coax his neighbor (Stallone) out of retirement after discovering that he was once the legendary crime-fighting hero known as the Samaritan.

The Amazon film is directed by Australian-born filmmaker Julius Avery, who previously directed the cult 2018 WWII-horror thriller "Overlord." He also wrote and directed the 2014 Australian crime thriller "Son of a Gun" which starred Ewan McGregor, Brenton Thwaites, and Alicia Vikander.

Co-starring Pilou Asbaek (Game of Thrones), Dascha Polanco (Orange Is the New Black), Moises Arias (The King of Staten Island), and Martin Starr (Silicon Valley), "Samaritan" is due to be released on August 26th on Amazon Prime Video.

Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon 'Wanna' Walton) suspects that his mysteriously reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually the legendary vigilante Samaritan, who was reported dead 20 years ago. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from ruin.
