Check out the first official teaser trailer for the new music documentary experience "Moonage Daydream," which explores the life and career of trailblazing rock icon David Bowie.

Featuring never-before-seen footage, including rare concert films and behind-the-scenes production videos, the documentary chronicles the various stages in Bowie's creative and musical journey, specifically the many rock personas he invented throughout his long and illustrious career.

In fact, "Moonage Daydream" is the title of a song recorded for Bowie's groundbreaking 1972 album "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars," which marked the genesis of Bowie's androgynous space rocker stage persona/alter-ego, Ziggy Stardust.

The documentary has been five years in the making, sanctioned by the Bowie estate. Award-winning documentary filmmaker Brett Morgen (of "Cobain: Montage of Heck," "The Kid Stays in the Picture," and "Jane") directed the upcoming film, which is set to make its world premiere this week at the Cannes Film Festival.

"Moonage Daydream" is scheduled to open in theaters and IMAX later in the year, sometime in the fall.
