The new official trailer has been released for "The Matrix Resurrections," the long-awaited fourth film in "The Matrix" franchise, starring Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jonathan Groff, and Neil Patrick Harris.

The film sees the return of Thomas Anderson (aka Neo) and Trinity (Reeves and Moss) as they find themselves completely unaware of each other, despite their shared memories and past. Now living a quiet, comfortable life in San Francisco, Neo is slowly realizing that he has suppressed memories of a former life -- and also memories of lost love. The question is, will Neo fight to get back Trinity? And is he willing to sacrifice himself to make it happen?

Lana Wachowski, the co-creator of "The Matrix" franchise, takes over directing duties in a solo directorial effort. Lana also co-wrote the film's screenplay with "Cloud Atlas" author David Mitchell and "The Lazarus Project" author Aleksander Hemon.

"The Matrix Resurrections" is being released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO MAX beginning on December 22nd. Watch the brand-new trailer, above.
