Check out a new official "West Side Story" commercial, featuring new footage from Steven Spielberg's upcoming musical based on the Oscar-winning 1961 film and the classic Broadway musical of the same name.

The film stars Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver) and newcomer Rachel Zegler as star-crossed lovers Tony and Mariam.

Loosely inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, the movie takes place in 1957 New York City, revolving around the intense rivalry between two street gangs: The Sharks, who are from a largely Puerto Rican neighborhood, and The Jets, who come from a neighboring Irish Catholic community. At the center is a burgeoning love story between Tony and Mariam, two teenagers from feuding neighborhoods.

Legendary Puerto Rican actress/dancer Rita Moreno co-stars in this Spielberg-directed film as local store owner Valentina. Moreno starred in the original film for which she won an Oscar for her portrayal of Anita. In this new remake, "Prom" actress Ariana DeBose takes on the Anita role. Other supporting cast members include Corey Stoll, David Alvarez, Mike Faist, Josh Andres Rivera, Ana Isabell, and Brian d'Arcy James.

"West Side Story" is hitting theaters on December 10th.
