Watch Matt Damon and Adam Driver as they get ready to fight in a deadly joust in this official extended clip from director Ridley Scott's new 14th-century medieval drama "The Last Duel."

The film, which is based on the true story from Eric Jager's book "The Last Duel: A True Story of Trial by Combat in Medieval France," also stars British actress Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, Free Guy) as the wife of a French Knight (Damon) who claims she had been sexually assaulted by her husband's former squire (Driver). After a scandalous public trial, the young French King Charles VI (played here by Imitation Game's Alex Lawther) declares a duel to the death between the two men.

Ben Affleck, who also co-stars in the film, co-wrote the screenplay with longtime friend Matt Damon. It's their first writing collaboration since winning the Oscar for writing the hit drama "Good Will Hunting."

Acclaimed filmmaker Nicole Holofcener (Walking and Talking, Enough Said) also co-wrote the film's screenplay through a unique writing process that was split up into different stages. Holofcener first wrote most of the scenes concerning the Knight's wife and wrote the wife's account of the assaulting incident before working on the revisions with Affleck and Damon.

Despite being in his 80s, director Ridley Scott has been extremely busy and has another movie coming out this year in November -- MGM's "House of Gucci" with Lady Gaga and Adam Driver.

"The Last Duel" is slated to open in theaters next week on October 15th.
