Benedict Cumberbatch portrays eccentric British artist Louis Wain who was known for his quirky cat paintings in this new stylish period biopic, for which an official trailer has been released.

"The Electrical Life of Louis Wain" also stars Emmy-winning actress Claire Foy (The Crown) as Emily Richardson, the woman who would eventually become Louis Wain's wife.

Dramatizing the years from the late 1800s through to the 1930s, the British film charts Louis Wain's relationship with Emily as well as his struggles with mental illness.

Co-starring Andrea Riseborough as Louis Wain's sister Caroline with appearances by Toby Jones, Adeel Akhtar, Taika Waititi, Nick Cave, and Richard Ayoade, the film is directed by British actor/filmmaker Will Sharpe (Flowers, The Darkest Universe).

"The Electrical Life of Louis Wain" is being released in U.S. theaters on October 22nd. It will then premiere on the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video, in the U.S. beginning on November 5th.
