Check out the new official trailer for the highly-anticipated feature-length prequel to Emmy-winning writer David Chase's groundbreaking HBO mob drama series "The Sopranos."

"The Many Saints of Newark" takes place in the 1960s and the early 1970s in Newark, New Jersey with portions set against the backdrop of the 1967 Newark riots.

The film chronicles the teenage years of Anthony "Tony" Sopranos who is played by Michael Gandolfini, the son of the late James Gandolfini.

Other cast members include Alessandro Nivola (as Richard 'Dickie' Moltisanti), Jon Bernthal (as Giovanni "Johnny Boy" Soprano), Corey Stoll (as Junior Soprano), Vera Farmiga (as Livia Soprano), Billy Magnussen (as Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri), and John Magaro (as Silvio Dante) with Leslie Odom Jr., Ray Liotta, Michela De Rossi, and Joey Diaz.

The prequel is produced and co-written by series creator David Chase with "Sopranos" writer Lawrence Konner. Meanwhile, Emmy-winning "Sopranos" helmer Alan Taylor (whose directing credits also include "Thor: The Dark World" and "Terminator Genisys") directed the film.

"The Many Saints of Newark" is scheduled to be released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO MAX on October 1st.
