Hulu has released the official trailer for "PEN15: Animated Special." It's a special stand-alone animated episode of the Emmy-nominated Hulu coming-of-age comedy series from creators/stars Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle who play fictionalized versions of themselves as socially awkward 13-year-old middle schoolers.

The extended 40-minute cartoon episode, titled "Jacuzzi," picks up after the events of the part-one finale of Season 2. We see Anna and Maya going on a summer vacation to Florida with Anna's father, Curtis (voiced by Taylor Nichols).

The episode was originally intended to be filmed as a live-action special. But due to the quarantine lockdown last year, Erskine and Konkle decided to turn the "Jacuzzi" episode into a 2-D animated special, which will be included in the second part of Season 2.

"PEN15: Animated Special" premieres on Friday, August 27th on Hulu.

synopsis:
On vacation with Curtis, Anna and Maya are introduced to new crippling insecurities. The girls try to ignore them but a mystical turn makes their self-doubt impossible to forget.
