It's Ryan Reynolds like you have never seen him before.
In the upcoming action-comedy "Free Guy," the Deadpool star is playing an average-joe bank teller named "Guy" who suddenly realizes he's an unimportant background character living inside an ultra-violent action-packed video game.
In this new promotional spot, we see Ryan Reynolds is playing another character in the film. It's the new, improved, and upgraded version of the "Guy" video game character. It seems Ryan Reynolds went method for the role.
Directed by "Stranger Things" and "Night at the Museum" director-producer Shawn Levy, the film also stars comedian Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit) as an egomaniacal video game developer; comedian Lil Rel Howery (Get Out) as Guy's best friend in the video game, and "Stranger Things" actor Joe Keery as an evil video game programmer. Emmy-winning "Killing Eve" star Jodie Comer also stars in the film as a video game tester whose video game avatar enlists Guy's help to save the open-world video game that he calls home.
"Free Guy" is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 13th.
