Meet the cast of oddball characters who make up the new Suicide Squad in this new official behind-the-scenes featurette for the upcoming DC movie from "Guardians of the Galaxy" filmmaker James Gunn.

While Margot Robbie returns as fan-favorite anti-heroine Harley Quinn alongside returning cast members Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, and Viola Davis who are also back as Rick Flag, Captain Boomerang, and Amanda Waller, respectively, the film features the introductions of new 'Suicide Squad' members, including Idris Elba as skilled mercenary Bloodsport; John Cena as anti-hero assassin Peacemaker; David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man; Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2; Peter Capaldi as Thinker and Sylvester Stallone as the voice of King Shark, among others.

"The Suicide Squad" is both a sequel and a soft reboot that's based on the DC supervillain comic book team of the same name. This time around, the Squad is reassembled for a new search-and-destroy mission where they will have to sneak on a remote South American island that's crawling with heavily armed guerrilla soldiers.

Other cast members include Michael Rooker as Savant; Pete Davidson as Blackguard; Nathan Fillion as T.D.K.; Alice Braga as Sol Soria; Flula Borg as Javelin; Mayling Ng as Mongal, and Sean Gunn as the Weasel.

"The Suicide Squad" is due to be released on HBO Max and in theaters beginning on August 6th.

Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone's favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave ... and Amanda Waller's government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement.
