The official red-band trailer has been released for the Canadian coming-of-age, foreign-exchange high school student comedy "The Exchange," which is directed by "Borat" and "Da Ali G Show" writer Dan Mazer.

The film is written by Emmy-winning "Simpsons" writer Tim Long, who is also the former head writer of the "Late Show with David Letterman."

Set in the mid-1980s, Ed Oxenbould (from M. Night Shyamalan's "The Visit") plays a socially awkward nerdy teenager who develops a slightly contemptuous friendship with a French foreign exchange student (played by Zombieland: Double Tap's Avan Jogia) who seems to have better luck with women at their school.

"This Is Us" star Justin Hartley co-stars in the comedy as a gym teacher sporting an '80s style mustache.

"The Exchange" is set to be released in U.S. theaters and on VOD on July 30th.

synopsis:
A socially awkward but highly enterprising teenager decides to acquire a "mail-order best friend"; a sophisticated exchange student from France. Instead, he ends up importing his personal nightmare, a cologne-soaked, chain-smoking, sex-obsessed youth who quickly becomes the hero of his new community.
