Go behind the scenes of the new, upcoming film adaptation of the classic '90s video game "Mortal Kombat."
Watch the new official featurette that explores the evolution of the fantasy fight-tournament action film that's based on the popular video game which began as a 16-bit arcade and Sega Genesis fighting one-on-one game but has now turned into a media franchise.
The James Wan-produced film, which is the feature directorial debut of acclaimed commercial director Simon McQuoid, is a gritty, bloody reboot of the "Mortal Kombat" film franchise. The story follows several martial arts fighters as they find themselves participating in an inter-dimensional fight tournament on a mysterious island, competing against sadistic sorcerers, crime bosses, and powerful black magic warriors in which the outcome will decide the fate of the world.
The film will be featuring some of the classic video game characters that include Sub-Zero, Raiden, Scorpion, Sonya Blade, Jax, Kano, and Goro, just to name a few.
The cast includes Lewis Tan (Deadpool 2), Joe Taslim (The Raid: Redemption), Jessica McNamee (Sirens), Hiroyuki Sanada (The Wolverine), Josh Lawson (House of Lies), Mehcad Brooks (Supergirl), Ludi Lin (Power Rangers), Chin Han (Marco Polo), Nathan Jones (Mad Max: Fury Road), and more.
"Mortal Kombat" is being released in theaters and on HBO MAX on April 23rd.

In MORTAL KOMBAT, MMA fighter Cole Young, accustomed to taking a beating for money, is unaware of his heritage -- or why Outworld's Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down. Fearing for his family's safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade at the direction of Jax, a Special Forces Major who bears the same strange dragon marking Cole was born with. Soon, he finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm, who grants sanctuary to those who bear the mark. Here, Cole trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and rogue mercenary Kano, as he prepares to stand with Earth's greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high-stakes battle for the universe.
