Check out the official full-length trailer for BBC America's new, upcoming steampunk-fantasy series "The Watch."

Starring Richard Dormer, who is known for his portrayal of Lord Beric Dondarrion on HBO's "Game of Thrones," the darkly comic series is inspired by characters created by renowned, late British fantasy writer Terry Pratchett.

Dormer plays Sam Vimes, a haggard, alcoholic street cop who gets assigned to the police force in the Dragon-filled city of Ankh-Morpork, which incidentally is inhabited by several characters from Pratchett's "Discworld" book series.

The show is executive produced by "Torchwood" producer Richard Stokes and "The Musketeers" writer Simon Allen. And the cast also includes Lara Rossi (I May Destroy You), Marama Corlett (Blood Drive), Jo Eaton-Kent (Don't Forget the Driver), Adam Hugill (1917), and Anna Chancellor (Pennyworth).

"The Watch" is premiering on January 3rd on BBC America in the U.S.

synopsis:
Welcome to Ankh-Morpork. Expect dragon sightings.

THE WATCH follows an unlikely group of misfits, The City Watch, who are forced to find the guts to save the world, surprising even themselves in the process. The comedic yet thrilling series pits trolls, werewolves, wizards and other improbable heroes against an evil plot to resurrect a great dragon which would lead to the destruction of life as they know it.
