From Ben Wheatley, the director of the cult British dark thrillers "High-Rise," "Free Fire," and "Sightseers," comes a new adaptation of Daphne du Maurier's classic 1938 gothic novel, "Rebecca."

Check out the first official trailer for the new Netflix psychological thriller that stars Lily James (Baby Driver, Downton Abbey) as a newly married young woman who, while staying at her husband's lavish family estate, becomes haunted by the heavy memory of his late, first wife.

The thriller also stars Call Me by Your Name's Armie Hammer and Oscar-nominated actress Kristin Scott Thomas with Emmy winner Ann Dowd (The Handmaid's Tale) and Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard).

The book, for which the film is based, was previously adapted into the classic 1940 Alfred Hitchcock thriller with Joan Fontaine and Laurence Olivier.

Directed by Wheatley from an adapted script by Jane Goldman (Kingsman, Kick-ass, The Woman in Black) with script revisions by Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse, "Rebecca" is premiering both in select theaters and on Netflix beginning October 21st.

synopsis:
After a whirlwind romance in Monte Carlo with handsome widower Maxim de Winter (Armie Hammer), a newly married young woman (Lily James) arrives at Manderley, her new husband's imposing family estate on a windswept English coast. Naive and inexperienced, she begins to settle into the trappings of her new life, but finds herself battling the shadow of Maxim's first wife, the elegant and urbane Rebecca, whose haunting legacy is kept alive by Manderley's sinister housekeeper Mrs. Danvers (Kristin Scott Thomas).
