A family comes together over a weekend to face the wrenching decision of their terminally ill mother in this American remake of the 2014 Danish drama "Silent Heart."

Directed by "Notting Hill" helmer Roger Michell and starring Susan Sarandon, Sam Neill, Kate Winslet, Mia Wasikowska, and Rainn Wilson, "Blackbird" is a forthcoming Euthanasia drama that explores the emotional fallout when a severely ailing matriarch tells her loved ones that she has chosen to end of her life.

Sarandon plays the terminally ill woman. Winslet and Wasikowska are her daughters. Wilson is the son-in-law, while Neill plays Sarandon's husband. The cast also includes Anson Boon, Bex Taylor-Klaus, and Lindsay Duncan.

After premiering to mostly positive reviews at last year's Toronto International Film Festival, "Blackbird" is due to be released in theaters and on VOD on September 18th. Watch the newly-released official trailer, above.

synopsis:
