Check out the opening scene from the X-Men-related superhero horror movie "The New Mutants," which debuted today during the online virtual Comic-Con panel.

The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch), Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things), Henry Zaga (Teen Wolf), and Blu Hunt (The Originals) as a ragtag group of troubled teenagers with mutant powers who find themselves secretly kept in a remote medical facility run by a dubious scientist, played by Alice Braga (Queen of the South).

Directed and co-written by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars), the film is based on the Marvel teenage superhero team of the same name -- specifically, the comic books drawn by legendary artist Bill Sienkiewicz.

Filmed several years ago and has been long-delayed because of a multitude of reasons, including the current Covid-19 quarantine, "The New Mutants" is now rescheduled to open in theaters on August 28th. "Fingers crossed."
