New season, a new serial killer to catch!
Check out the first official trailer for TNT's acclaimed historical mystery-thriller series "The Alienist: Angel of Darkness," which is the upcoming second season of the limited cable drama based on Caleb Carr's best-selling novel series.
The late 1800s-set drama once again stars Dakota Fanning, Daniel Bruhl, and Luke Evans as three gifted New York sleuths who work together when their city is terrorized by a gruesome serial killer.
Fanning plays Sara Howard, a young NYPD secretary who now works as the boss of her own private detective agency. Bruhl as Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, a German psychiatrist (or rather an "alienist"), who specializes in forensic science and human psychology. And finally, Evans plays John Schuyler Moore, a New York Times cartoonist who also works as a local crime reporter.
Nominated for six Emmy awards, and the Emmy winner for Special Visual Effects, the Hossein Amini-E. Max Frye-produced series also co-stars Silence of Lamb's Ted Levine with Brian Geraghty as Theodore Roosevelt.

The psychological thriller drama is set in 1896 when a series of gruesome murders of boy prostitutes has gripped the city. Newly appointed top cop Teddy Roosevelt calls upon Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, a criminal psychologist -- aka alienist -- and newspaper illustrator John Moore to conduct the investigation in secret. Joining them in the probe is Sara Howard, a headstrong secretary at Police Headquarters.
