Amazon's critically acclaimed series "Homecoming" is returning next month with its second season, and singer/actress Janelle Monae (Hidden Figures, Moonlight) has now come in to take over the lead role.
The psychological mystery-thriller series, which is based on the popular scripted podcast of the same name by Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg, who also serve as executive producers, revolves around a shadowy mental health and wellness company called the Homecoming Initiative, where they use unconventional methods to treat psychologically-scarred soldiers transiting into civilian life.
Monae plays an amnesiac woman who, after waking up on a boat in the middle of a lake, finds herself trying to figure out who she is and goes on a frantic quest to search for her identity. Supposedly, she eventually meets up with Stephan James' Season One character, Walter Cruz, a military veteran and a former client of the Homecoming facility.
Oscar-nominated actress Hong Chau (Watchmen, Downsizing) also returns to the series as Homecoming representative Audrey Temple. Oscar-winner Chris Cooper and Joan Cusack, meanwhile, have joined the cast of Season 2.
