"Fifty Shades" star Dakota Johnson dreams of becoming a music producer in "The High Note," the upcoming musical showbiz dramedy, for which the first official trailer has been released.

The film also stars Golden Globe-winning "Black-ish" star Tracee Ellis Ross (who is also the real-life daughter of legendary singer Diana Ross) as Grace Davis, a world-famous recording superstar who, after decades of touring, wants to finally stay home to record a new album.

This is much to the chagrin of her long-time music manager (played here by Ice Cube) who just wants Grace to keep touring and make money.

Dakota Johnson plays Maggie, Grace's dedicated personal assistant who, after years of feeling underappreciated, sees an opportunity to achieve her childhood dream of becoming a music producer. Maggie now must convince her boss, Grace, to record new songs with her help. The thing is, does Grace see Maggie as a young woman with strong ambitions or merely a little girl with her head in the clouds?

Emmy-nominated television director Nisha Ganatra, who helmed last year's Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson-starring comedy "Late Night," directs "The High Note," which also costars Kelvin Harrison Jr., Zoe Chao, and June Diane Raphael.

"The High Note" is being released on VOD beginning May 29th.
