It's one of the most controversial films of the year -- and nobody has seen it, yet!

It was yanked off the scheduled last year because of a dumb political snafu created by the media, but moviegoers will finally get to see the new Blumhouse-produced thriller "The Hunt," which is now slated to hit theaters next month.

Boasting an ensemble cast led by Betty Gilpin, Hilary Swank, Ike Barinholtz, Emma Roberts, Justin Hartley, Ethan Suplee, and Glenn Howerton, the film follows a group of 12 strangers as they are kidnapped and then set loose in the woods where they are hunted down like animals by a group of super-wealthy elites.

"GLOW" actress Betty Gilpin plays one of the human targets who, because of her greatly underestimated survival skills, is able to turn the tables on her attackers. But the question is, is it all a huge game of pretend?

Emmy-winning producer-writer Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers, Watchmen) co-wrote and co-produced the film with his writing partner Nick Cuse (The Leftovers, Watchmen).

Craig Zobel, the acclaimed director of the thrillers "Z for Zachariah" and "Compliance," directed the horror-tinged action thriller, which is now scheduled to open in theaters on March 13th -- Friday the 13th.

synopsis:
Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don't know where they are, or how they got there. They don't know they've been chosen ... for a very specific purpose ... THE HUNT.

In the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, a group of globalist elites gathers for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt humans for sport. But the elites' master plan is about to be derailed because one of the hunted, Crystal (Betty Gilpin), knows The Hunters' game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off, one by one, as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman (two-time Oscar-winner Hilary Swank) at the center of it all.
