Check out the first official teaser for the upcoming third season of the critically acclaimed anthology series "Genius," starring recent Oscar-nominated "Harriet" star Cynthia Erivo as legendary soul singer Aretha Franklin.

Executive produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, the new season will dramatize Aretha Franklin's extraordinary life from her years as a young gospel singer who became one of the biggest recording artists in the world, and who was famously hailed as "the Queen of Soul" throughout the 1960s.

Emmy-winning director Anthony Hemingway (The People v. O.J. Simpson) helms the first episode of the mini-series, which also stars Courtney B. Vance as Aretha's Baptist minister father C. L. Franklin and David Cross as famed music producer Jerry Wexler.

"Genius: Aretha" is set to premiere in 2021 on the National Geographic channel. Watch the teaser, above.
