John Krasinski's "Quiet Place" character Lee Abbott makes a surprise return in a flashback scene in the newly-released official "Big Game" commercial for Paramount's upcoming post-apocalyptic horror sequel.

We see Krasinski's Lee Abbott as he walks down a street toward a local policeman who is trying to control a chaotic situation.

"Ronnie, what do we got?" Krasinski asks. The policeman answers, "There's some kind of fire. We got units headed out there now." Then, BLAM! A cop car is suddenly smashed into by a giant alien-like monster. Krasinski's character instantly runs back to his car where his wife and children are (they are again played by Krasinski's real-life wife Emily Blunt, and Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe).

Obviously, this is a scene that takes place before the events of the original film. But from the looks of things, the sequel will mainly focus on Evelyn Abbott (Blunt) and her journey to keep her young children safe, as well as her newborn child.

The upcoming film will have Evelyn and her children stepping out into uncharted territory as they meet new post-apocalyptic survivors -- some of them are possibly "worth saving," while others are not to be trusted.

Co-starring Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou, and again directed and written by John Krasinski, "A Quiet Place Part II" arrives in theaters in 2021.

synopsis:
Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.
