The universe gets broken by the unexpected death of David Bowie in this quirky indie rom-com "Speed of Life," for which an official trailer has been released.

Starring Emmy-nominated "Fargo" actress Allison Tolman and Emmy-winning "Handmaid's Tale" actress Ann Dowd as the same woman but in two different points in her life, the film asks the head-scratching question, "What if David Bowie's death inexplicably created an alternate timeline for one of his biggest fans."

The offbeat film centers on an ordinary American couple, June and Edward, played here by Allison Tolman and Ray Santiago (from "Ash vs Evil Dead").

On the day of David Bowie's 2016 death, June and Edward get into a heated argument over their future. Edward is soon sucked into a wormhole created by the rock legend's untimely passing.

Cut to: the year 2040. June is 24 years older (now played by Ann Dowd) and she still reeling from the mysterious disappearance of Edward. But when Edward suddenly reappears in her life, not looking a day older than he did on the day he vanished, June must reevaluate the future of their relationship and her own life.

Co-starring Jeff Perry (Scandal) and Vella Lovell (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), the film is written and directed by Liz Manashil, who made her feature debut with the 2014 indie relationship comedy "Bread and Butter."

"Speed of Life" is being released January 10th on multiple digital platforms, including Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, and others. Watch the trailer, above.
