Mackenzie Davis watches over a couple of creepy kids in the new trailer for the psychological supernatural thriller "The Turning."
Inspired by Henry James' classic 1898 gothic horror novel "The Turn of the Screw, this spooky mansion-set thriller casts the "Terminator: Dark Fate" star as a live-in nanny who has just been hired to look after two emotionally disturbed children from an affluent family.
These kids are played here by "Stranger Things" star Finn Wolfhard and "The Florida Project" kid actress Brooklynn Prince.
In contrast to the Henry James novel, this film is set in the 1990s. And one of its principal features is a scary secluded Maine estate that appears to be haunted by dark spirits.
The film is directed by acclaimed music video director Floria Sigismondi, who previously helmed 2010's Dakota Fanning-Kristen Stewart-starring rock band biopic "The Runaways."
Sigismondi has also recently helmed various episodes of "The Handmaid's Tale," "Daredevil," and "American Gods."
"The Conjuring" screenwriters Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes wrote the film's adapted screenplay.
Co-starring Barbara Marten and Joely Richardson, "The Turning" is being released in theaters on January 24, 2020.

For more than 100 years, a deeply haunting tale has been passed down to terrify audiences. Next January, DreamWorks Pictures' THE TURNING takes us to a mysterious estate in the Maine countryside, where newly appointed nanny Kate (Mackenzie Davis) is charged with the care of two disturbed orphans, Flora and Miles (Finn Wolfhard and Brooklynn Prince). Quickly though, she discovers that both the children and the house are harboring dark secrets and things may not be as they appear.
