"Superman" star Henry Cavill plays a magical mutant swordsman in this medieval fantasy-horror epic that appears to be equal parts "Game of Thrones" and "The Lord of the Rings."

Check out the newly-released final trailer for "The Witcher," Netflix's new original series that's based on the best-selling novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, which also became a well-known fantasy video game franchise.

Cavill stars as Geralt of Rivia, a stoic, antisocial monster slayer for hire, who has agreed to protect Princess Ciri, a young helpless lady on the run (played by newcomer Freya Allan) from an evil tyrant and his army.

The eight-episode series also follows the exploits of Yennefer of Vengerberg, a cripple peasant girl who becomes a powerful black magic sorceress. She is played by Anya Chalotra.

Television producer-writer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Daredevil, The Defenders, The Umbrella Academy) serves as the series' showrunner.

"The Witcher" has already been picked up for a second season, and it will premiere next week, starting on Friday, December 20th, only on Netflix.
