Check out a new extended behind-the-scenes featurette for the much-buzzed-about WWI epic "1917."
The film, directed by Oscar-winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall), is a complex technical achievement that has been designed to look like one long, highly-elaborated one-take sequence.
Shot by Oscar-winning cinematographer Roger Deakins (Blade Runner 2049, Skyfall), "1917" stars George MacKay (Captain Fantastic) and Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones) as two young, wide-eyed British WWI soldiers who are given a nearly impossible mission to complete -- they must trek across the Western Front and behind enemy lines to deliver an urgent warning message that will stop an army battalion of 1600 soldiers from walking into a trap. If they fail, the soldiers will undoubtedly be massacred. It's literally a race against time.
Co-starring Mark Strong, Andrew Scott, Richard Madden, Colin Firth and Benedict Cumberbatch, "1917" has been earning strong reviews and generating a lot of Oscar buzz. The film is scheduled to open in limited release on December 25th, and will expand nationwide January 10th.
