Three official character featurettes have been released for Netflix's much-buzzed-about medieval fantasy-horror series "The Witcher," starring Henry Cavill (Mission: Impossible - Fallout, Man of Steel) as Geralt of Rivia, who is a traveling monster slayer for hire.
Based on the global best-selling fantasy novel series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, which itself has been adapted into a popular fantasy action role-playing video game franchise, "The Witcher" follows three main protagonists: Geralt of Rivia, a magical mutant swordsman (played by Cavill); Princess Ciri, a young lady on the run (played by Freya Allan) and Yennefer of Vengerberg, an ex-cripple-turned-black magic sorceress (played by Anya Chalotra).
The eight-episode series is executive produced by showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, whose writing and producing credits include the Netflix shows "Daredevil," "The Defenders," and "The Umbrella Academy."
Already renewed for a second season, "The Witcher: Season 1" is set to premiere Friday, December 20th, only on Netflix.
