After moving to a small town, a single mother (Carrie Coon) and her two children (Mckenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard) learn the surprising history of a previously unknown relative who may have been one of the original Ghostbusters.

Check out the very first official trailer for "Ghostbusters: Afterlife," which is not related to the recent all-female remake, but is the direct sequel to the original "Ghostbusters" film franchise.

The forthcoming supernatural comedy hails from Oscar-nominated director Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air), who is the son of legendary "Ghostbusters" director Ivan Reitman.

The sequel -- which also co-stars Ant Man's Paul Rudd as a local school teacher -- centers on siblings Phoebe and Trevor (played by Captain Marvel's Mckenna Grace and Stranger Things' Finn Wolfhard) who, after moving into their deceased grandfather's abandoned farmhouse, discover that their late grandpa had a close connection to the now-nearly forgotten event called "Manhattan Crossrip of 1984," in which four ghost-busting scientists saved New York City from a demon-god named Gozer.

Phoebe and Trevor also discover a couple of weird things locked away in their grandfather's barn -- like a ghost trap and the iconic Ectomobile.

Director Jason Reitman co-wrote the screenplay with filmmaker Gil Kenan (Monster House, City of Ember, Poltergeist Remake).

Featuring cameos from original cast members Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts, "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" is slated for a 2021 theatrical release. Watch the teaser, above.
