Netflix has released the final trailer for Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese's three-hour-and-a-half mob epic "The Irishman," which has been hailed as a masterpiece by critics.

The Netflix original film, which is being tipped as a major Oscar contender, stars 76-year-old screen legend and Oscar-winner Robert De Niro who, through the use of a digital de-aging process, plays an Irish hitman over several decades.

The critically-lauded feature has been adapted from Charles Brandt's best-selling biographical book "I Heard You Paint Houses," and it chronicles the unbelievable life story of Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran (De Niro), a former war veteran-turned-notorious mob hitman who worked for the Bufalino crime family and also became a close associate of legendary Teamsters union leader Jimmy Hoffa (played here by 79-year-old Oscar-winner Al Pacino, who is also been digitally "de-aged" to look younger for the movie).

76-year-old Oscar-winner Joe Pesci, who has not starred in a film since 2010's "Love Ranch," comes out of retirement temporarily to co-star as mob boss Russell Bufalino. This is Pesci's fourth collaboration with Scorsese and De Niro, following the classic films "Casino," "Goodfellas," and "Raging Bull."

Written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Steven Zaillian (Schindler's List, Gangs of New York), the film also co-stars Ray Romano, Jesse Plemons, Bobby Cannavale, Stephen Graham, Harvey Keitel, and Anna Paquin

"The Irishman" is currently playing in select theaters, but is set to premiere on Netflix next week on Wednesday, November 27th.

synopsis:
Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci star in Martin Scorsese's THE IRISHMAN, an epic saga of organized crime in post-war America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frank Sheeran, a hustler and hitman who worked alongside some of the most notorious figures of the 20th Century.

Spanning decades, the film chronicles one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history, the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa, and offers a monumental journey through the hidden corridors of organized crime: its inner workings, rivalries and connections to mainstream politics.
