Featuring an all-new character design, check out the new official trailer for "Sonic The Hedgehog," the forthcoming live-action film adaptation of the popular Sega videogame franchise.

The family adventure film stars "Parks and Recreation" comedian Ben Schwartz as the voice of the titular talking blue Hedgehog who can run at supersonic speeds.

Comic legend Jim Carrey also stars as the villainous Dr. Robotnik, a nefarious industrialist who wants to capture Sonic in order to study and replicate his supersonic powers. Meanwhile, James Marsden (from HBO's "Westworld") plays a local sheriff who ends up becoming friends with Sonic as they try to evade Dr. Robotnik's robotic army.

The cast also includes Tika Sumpter (Ride Along, The Old Man & the Gun) and Neal McDonough (Yellowstone).

The film is the feature directorial debut of animator Jeff Fowler, who previously directed and produced the 2004 Oscar-nominated animated short "Gopher Broke."

After some initial backlash from "Sonic The Hedgehog" fans, Fowler went back to the drawing board and redesigned the CG character of Sonic and made him look more like a cartoon. The release date was subsequently pushed back to early 2020.

"Sonic The Hedgehog" is now slated to hit theaters on February 14, 2020.
