The first official trailer has been released for the hotly anticipated DC female-led comic book movie "Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)."

The film is an offshoot of 2016's "Suicide Squad," in which Margot Robbie is reprising her scene-stealing role as The Joker's psychotic ex-sidekick/ex-girlfriend Harley Quinn.

The DC movie also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane, Gemini Man) and Jurnee Smollett-Bell (True Blood, Underground) as Gotham vigilantes, the Huntress and Black Canary, respectively.

Rosie Perez (The Dead Don't Die) co-stars as hard-nosed Gotham detective Renee Montoya, while Ewan McGregor (Doctor Sleep) plays the film's main villain, a ruthless crime lord who goes by the name, the Black Mask.

Chris Messina (The Mindy Project) also appears in the film as sadistic serial killer Victor Zsasz. Rounding out the cast is newcomer Ella Jay Basco as a young runaway girl named Cassandra Cain.

Directed by Chinese-American filmmaker Cathy Yan (of the Sundance-winning foreign drama "Dead Pigs") and written by "Bumblebee" scribe Christina Hodson, "Birds of Prey" is hitting theaters on February 7, 2020.
