To play an Irish hitman over several decades, 76-year-old screen legend Robert De Niro is digitally de-aged in director Martin Scorsese's highly-anticipated mob epic "The Irishman," for which the official full-length trailer has just been released.

While already being viewed as a potential awards contender, the Netflix film is based on Charles Brandt's best-selling biographical book "I Heard You Paint Houses," which chronicled the unbelievable life story of Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran, a former war veteran-turned-notorious mob hitman who worked for the Bufalino crime family and also became a close associate of legendary Teamsters union leader Jimmy Hoffa.

The film, which has Academy Award-winning director Scorsese reuniting with his longtime collaborators, De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Harvey Keitel, features De Niro as Frank Sheeran, while fellow Oscar-winner Al Pacino is playing Jimmy Hoffa.

79-year-old Pacino and 76-year-old Pesci have also been digitally "de-aged" to look younger for the movie.

The supporting cast also includes Ray Romano, Jesse Plemons, Bobby Cannavale, Stephen Graham, Aleksa Palladino, and Anna Paquin.

Oscar-winning screenwriter Steven Zaillian (Schindler's List, Gangs of New York) wrote the adapted script for "The Irishman," which is set to make its world premiere this weekend at the New York Film Festival.

The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 1st. It will then be made available to stream on Netflix starting November 27th. Watch the full trailer, above.
